Assistant Controller - (Park City) in Wichita, Kansas For Sale

LOCATION: Park City JOB SUMMARY: Manage staff accountant and inventory control teams and their functions, along with preparation of reports and statistics detailing financial results. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Manage, oversee and assist in the overall performance of the Accounting department. - Responsible for the operation of accounting systems and records for functional accounting areas of direct reports. - Establish and maintain accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations while maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP.) - Prepare or supervise month-end and year-end accounting procedures including journal entries and account reconciliations for functional team. - Interact with internal and external auditors by compiling and providing data. - Explain accounting policies to employees and business partners. - Analyze information and report results to operating managers as needed. - Perform the role of a project manager for system upgrades and applications as well as be willing to assist in special projects. - Understand and troubleshoot various system issues, including interfaces between operational transactions and general ledger. - Interface with internal corporate legal department for documents required for Accounting functions. - Develop, implement, and maintain accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes. SKILLS: * Ability to write and prepare written, reports, correspondence, etc. * Ability to effectively communicate. * Ability to motivate and develop employees. * Excellent customer relations skills. * Strong computer skills, specifically with Excel, and the ability to learn to effectively use company software - with training. * Ability to gain an understanding of the terminology related to the products and services that the company sells in order to properly manage the financial reporting needed by management. * Ability to gain an understanding of Caterpillar systems and reporting needs. Knowledge of construction industry is helpful. REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field is required with five to eight years prior finance and/or accounting experience. - CPA or MBA helpful. - Previous management of people. - Experience with positions requiring multiple priorities and the need to organize the work of self and others.
